Russian cosmonauts on the moon by 2030: presentation of Rogozin

A few days ago, the news was published on Habré that the head of the Roscosmos state corporation, Dmitry Rogozin, presented a plan for disembarking Russian cosmonauts on the Moon. Journalists of several editions managed to get photographs of the slides of Rogozin’s presentation , which were shown during the official’s speech.

Let me remind you that manned flights to the moon will take place by 2029-2030. In 2029, flight tests and a comprehensive study of the moon using an automatic moon rover are planned. Well, in 2030, Roskosmos plans to send a whole team of cosmonauts to a neighbor of the Earth, plus install an airborne complex on the satellite surface.

In addition, starting from 2030, a moon base module will work on the moon, where people can live. It is clear that all this will cost a lot - the cost of the program will be hundreds of billions of rubles. In order to reach the moon, new launch vehicles, methane and hydrogen "competences" will be developed.

Another interesting point is the launch into the polar orbit of an artificial moon satellite. True, this event can take place no earlier than 2028. Well, after 2030, an extra-heavy launch vehicle will be launched, helping Roscosmos to explore the expanses of the Universe. Well, or at least near-Earth space. The rocket carrying capacity is more than 27 tons; it means delivery of a payload to a natural satellite of the Earth. The same rocket is capable of delivering more than 103 tons of cargo to the low orbit of the Earth. This is about the same as the NASA rocket called Block 1B (SLS) can carry with it into low orbit.

Rogozin criticized the lunar program of the Americans during a speech, saying that they had no stability in the plans. The head of Roscosmos called the program itself a “show”, opposing the stable implementation of plans for landing on the moon in Russia.

The Moon will be mastered in stages, starting in 2024, when the Luna Resource-1 satellite will go into orbit. In 2025, the automatic station will be disembarked. Afterwards, a special complex will go to the Moon, which is called “Luna-Grunt”, the module of this complex will land on the Moon, take a sample of the soil and go back to Earth with it.

Russian cosmonauts will appear on the Moon not earlier than 2030. The module of the lunar base is planned to make one of the main elements of the study of the surface of the moon. As far as can be understood, it will be the basis for building other objects on the satellite surface.

Well, to manage the project, according to Rogozin, a new National Space Center is required. Earlier it was reported that he will be located on the territory of the Khrunichev Center in Filevskoy floodplain. Its territory will be 250,000 m². This area will have a situational center, a mission control center, a state corporation office, and other units of the Center.

Well, the plan is, now it remains to wait for its implementation. It would be nice if the road map outlined by Rogozin turned out to be real and feasible.
