Google used camel in the desert of Liva for Google Street View

On Google Street View, it has long been possible to view not only city streets, architectural sights of various regions, but also some very remote corners of the world. At the same time, for taking pictures in such places, the engineers of the corporation use not only cars, but also bicycles, boats, and themselves, carrying panoramic cameras on themselves.

But for the construction of a new route, in the desert of Liwa, the most unusual vehicle was chosen and its means, the “driver”. In the desert, a camel was used, as well as a Bedouin, its owner, to travel around the dunes.

The desert itself, with the oasis of the same name, is located in the southern tip of the United Arab Emirates. The first people here appeared many thousands of years ago, already in our time Liwa, with its oases, became a rather important source of such products as dates, as well as trunks of date palms.

Now the desert is a tourist center, curious people flock here every year. And now there is an opportunity to make a virtual trip for those who, for some reason, cannot visit Livu personally. According to representatives of the corporation, upon receiving images of the route in the desert, it was planned to create a panorama with a reference to a single trip with a camel through the dunes. Actually, the authors of the project did it perfectly.

Both bare sands, desert plants, and even agricultural farms located in oases were in the field of view of the camera.
