Planet contemplates the death of a star

Last week, space researchers first observed an interesting event - around the star HIP 13044 (not to be confused with the smaller exoplanet, under the label 13044b ) located in the Helmi stream, which has been in the terminal phase of the giant for several billion years, scientists discovered the orbit of an unknown planet. Everything would be fine, but this is only according to the laws of physics, the red giant should have long attracted a smaller celestial body and absorbed it.

Two things come to mind for those who look into powerful telescopes. First: the planet just survived the expansion of the star. Second, the planet simply “moved” a little further away from the deadly radiation until the star's expansion has ended. As you understand, neither one nor the other, does not fit with the modern understanding of the physical and thermodynamic processes in the Universe.

Actually, both the star and the planet were found during the search for just such stars and planets. When scientists considered that the Earth was left about 5 billion years before the moment of absorption by the Sun (increasing in size red dwarf, at that time), they decided to find similar cases in our Galaxy and ... found.

Interestingly, HIP 13044 is a star-poor metal. That is, the formation of a new planet is extremely unlikely. That is what prompted some to the reasoning on the topic: "An alien ship sucks the plasma of a dying star." There is no evidence of this, but the idea that the planet entered the star's orbit from the outside is not ruled out by anyone.
