After my total transition to Ubuntu, one day I needed to take a screenshot of the whole site. I, naive, having opened FireFox, began to search for my usual FireShot plugin, and to my deep disappointment I discovered that this does not work under Linux. The most amazing thing is that I have not found a worthy analogue of this plug-in either in FireFox or in Chromium. A few days later, I stumbled upon Shutter, a screen capture program, and I began exploring this tool.
So Shutter has all the functionality I need, namely:
- Take screenshots from just about everything: sites, hints, windows and their elements;
- Edit screenshots (crop, overlay watermarks, blur private information);
- Apply various beautiful effects to the screenshots made;
- Upload them to various ImageHosting'i.
So, everything is more detailed.
Take screenshots
To take a screenshot of the site, you need to click a button, and in the window that appears, type a link. If it is copied to your clipboard, the link will be inserted automatically. Of course, integration into the browser is more convenient, but thanks to that.
')

Screenshots of sites are pretty good, the only thing that confuses is that you need to set a timeout for taking the screenshot with your hands, because on slower connections, things aren't going that fast. Everything else is logical.

You can remove the context menu of windows, and what can I say, you can remove any element of the window at all.

It is saddened that Shutter crookedly removes Ubuntu notifications. You have to shoot the whole screen and then cut them.
Editing

Included with the Shutter is a small, but quite suitable for such purposes editor. With it, you can crop images, hide private information, draw various pointers, write hints. You can export to various file formats, although when exporting to JPEG it did not detect a change in the compression ratio.
We give charm

Together with the installation of Shutter, we also get a package of several plug-ins that allow us to direct the beauty to our screenshots. With the help of plug-ins, you can rotate images, make reflections, present them as pictures with Polaroid, and much more. Be sure to try this chip.

We publish and share

Shutter allows us to upload both a single screenshot and the entire session simultaneously to the Internet. You can upload to custom photo hosting sites, local resources or to a certain ftp.
Customization
Shutter is very easy to customize, you can edit almost anything, ranging from the format used for saving images to setting up photo hosting sites and adding plug-ins.
Conclusion
Pros:
- Able to take screenshots from almost everything;
- Able to edit the resulting images and apply effects to them;
- Able to upload pictures to the Internet;
- Pretty good built-in editor;
- Able to replace Gnome hotkeys.
Minuses:
- Can't take screenshots from Ubuntu notifications;
- Not embedded in the browser;
- No compression when exporting to jpeg from the editor;
- You have to set a timeout for slow connections.
In general, the Shutter is really almost perfect. If the developers remove the listed disadvantages, then the Shutter can be safely put in the first place among the screenshots.
Installation:
sudo apt-add-repository ppa: shutter / ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install shutter
