Recently, the Moscow office of Toshiba announced a very interesting model of a business notebook - the ultra-thin Portégé R700 and its satellite version of the Satellite R630. The model is full of interesting decisions, to tell immediately about which in one post it seems an unnecessary haste. Let's start with a general overview, and then we will take a closer look at the new cooling system, the encryption module, the battery, which allows you to work offline for up to 8 hours, etc.

So let's start with the case.

Today it is the thinnest and lightest laptop on the European market. The diagonal of the Portégé R700 is 33.8 cm (13.3 "), the thickness is only 16.8 mm, and the weight is 1.3 kg.

The cover of the laptop is made of magnesium alloy with a black matte finish. It feels like it is not thicker than a dense sheet of cardboard, and it seems that a light effort is enough to break it, but the impression is deceptive. The textured structure makes the Portégé R700 incredibly resistant to bending deformation, protecting electronics and mechanical components from damage, thereby significantly extending the life of the product.

Those who do not like the "gloss" in laptops will be happy. The screen does not reflect the rays of light from external sources. As standard, the laptop is equipped with a Toshiba TrueBrite screen. What else is interesting? Airflow distribution technology (Airflow Cooling Technology), which allowed to keep a low noise level from fan operation. We will tell about it a bit later. Thanks to the vertical location of the memory slots, the Portégé R700 can hold up to 8 GB of RAM, providing an even higher level of performance. The displacement sensor in space is designed to protect the hard drive from possible damage due to shocks and shaking of the case. Port for connecting a docking station that supports modern HDMI and USB 3.0 data transfer interfaces. Finally, the battery life is up to 8 hours from a fully charged rechargeable battery.

While the Portégé R700 is designed primarily for business users who spend a lot of time on the road, using 3G mobile Internet, the Toshiba Satellite R630 is designed for the consumer segment. As a rule, representatives of this segment do not need a docking station, so this model is deprived of the corresponding port. The same applies to the fingerprint scanner. As standard, the laptop is equipped with a Toshiba TrueBrite screen.
