Two stories with fake pictures

A couple of days ago, the NY Post told the sad story of an American young man who received 24 years in prison not so much for credit card fraud as for fake photos. He portrayed himself alongside patients in hospitals and hospices, and wanted to convince the court that he needed the money for charitable donations. But the judge noted that in two photographs the fraudster was wearing the same T-shirt with identical artifacts in the photographs. For cynical deception (and inept work) 24 years in prison is quite normal.

Unfortunately, not all photoshoppers-misbehaving get what they deserve. Yesterday, it was discovered that BP oil corporation also forged a photo in which it portrayed its headquarters for combating oil spills in the Gulf of Mexico.

Here is the photo (by link high-res).

We must admire how tireless fighters for the environment day and night watching the underwater work, not sparing the strength to eliminate the consequences of the disaster.

However, a careful study of the photograph convincingly indicates the signs of editing in Photoshop, and the quality of work is at the level of a 12-year-old child.

Bloggers logically suggested that a photograph of the command center could have been taken before the disaster, and then underwater shots were added to the picture.

After the outbreak of the scandal, BP urgently removed the fake photo from free access, and then published this snapshot (via the high-res link).

As you can see, there is no special fraud. Just decided to embellish a little.
