More and more "cloud" projects are offered by various companies. For example, about a month ago, Kaspersky Lab offered its own scalable solution to combat DDOS attacks, Amazon launched a second “cloud” program, offering very powerful clouds for not very rich companies that cannot buy their own service. Well, the company Rackspace, which seems to respond positively to Habré, offers its own open source project based on its own capacities for those who want to create an individual cloud that meets specific requirements.
The project is called OpenStack, it is a project licensed from Apache that includes several cloud functions. There is also a distributed storage of large data arrays based on the Rackspace Cloud File platform.

I will note that after some time another service will be commissioned, based on the NASA Nebula cloud and the Rackspace Cloud Servers platform. All this will come into operation at the beginning of next year.
OpenStack is primarily intended for corporate users who have special requirements for hosting companies. OpenStack, as mentioned above, allows you to create and configure your own cloud using the open source software Rackspace, which will function as the company needs.
According to management, the main reason for creating such a project is the very different requirements of corporate users, each of whom needs something special that is not part of the standard packages offered by most hosters and data centers, both cloud-based and not.
The software is not something accidental and just created, it is software developed by the company's specialists for several years and already run-in. Thus, if ordinary companies try to offer more and more powerful hosting packages, corporate and private users are still more interested in experimenting with "cloud" offers, which, which is good news, are becoming more and more. Indeed, it's nice to know that you pay only for the capacities that you use, and your own project works perfectly, since the “cloud” allows you to flexibly increase the required capacities.
Interestingly, despite a similar project, whose main goal is to offer individual “clouds” created and configured by the users themselves, the company is going to make its project a standard.
Perhaps someone will benefit from this information and this project. Here is the
