Joining a google account to an old YouTube account
After Google bought YouTube in 2006, when registering on YouTube, users could choose between the original YouTube account system and the Google account system. Since May 2009, when registering on YouTube, all users automatically become Google users.
Now Google asks all remaining users of the original YouTube account system to join the Google account system. So far this is not necessary, but ultimately it will be necessary in order to continue to use YouTube. Wherein:
regardless of the username on Google, the YouTube username will remain the same;
Google account does not necessarily mean a Gmail account - you can create a Google account with any email address;
after combining accounts, the user's activity on YouTube will not be translated into Buzz - users themselves will decide whether they need to socialize in this way.
Among the advantages of combining in Google indicate the following:
Improved account protection - Google's account system is reliable and will help reduce the amount of spam throughout the site, and users will get all the security features that the company has developed over the last decade.
a single account doesn’t mean anything to anyone outside the YouTube programming team, but in fact it’s rather difficult to simultaneously support two account systems.
If you have an old YouTube account and you want to create a Google account or join an existing one, just follow this link - youtube.com/finish_link_upgrade and select the option to join an existing Google account or create a new one.
