Waiting for the plugin
While the industrial giants are preparing the concept of GoogleTV (in which, apparently, wait for something interesting and relevant for the Russian-speaking segment will have quite a long time), smaller manufacturers go their own way, fighting for the hearts of users in various ways, already offering alternative products.
One of them, for example, is MediaBar, about which I recently wrote . At the moment this is a project, mostly consisting of online services that are in network players (NMT), and will soon appear in other devices, such as TVs and BluRay players.
For those who like to deliberately shovel and learn the stuffing of a network player, the opportunity to combine business with pleasure has appeared. It's about the 22 '' - inch LCD TV, which you can get in return for the developed service plugin for MediaBar. By the way, the latter is absolutely free (unless, of course, you count the price of the device that owns it), because in fact, this is an open source development - you can always do something yourself, fix or modify an existing application to fit your needs.

All this is not advertising for the sake of, but for the appearance of good services for - it's great when, without looking up from the sofa, you can find out the weather, news, an interactive TV program, check email, watch photos or videos from the network, download something or just kill time in some toy.
I know that Habré is full of craftsmen, so I don’t lose hope that there will be a plugin among the winners, which, for example, would bring the main page of the site to the TV without any extra details. I don’t know, of course, how convenient it is to read posts from the TV (however, I’ve read it more than once - completely), but at least it would be great to just have the opportunity to watch the latest editions of KanoBuvosti and listen to podcasts without authorization. I think there is nothing difficult in this, especially since there is an SDK , ready-made documentation and many examples . And the telly is not superfluous! :)
For clarity, I threw as I see it. Unlike the usual browser, which will have to go through all the links to navigate through the site, moving through the main sections (hardly anyone comes into the “work” every day) comes at the expense of four colored buttons. The rest of the buttons for moving around the page are not necessary. Only here programming skills, unfortunately, have no gramme. But what can I do - I will be happy to help! Anyone take it?
And in general, can make a separate place where all habr-lotions will be stored? Programs, plug-ins for different platforms, scripts, services and other buns. It would not be superfluous!
As for the competition - there is not necessarily limited only to Habrom - it is full of other services that can be usefully crossed with a TV.
