Sound, image, light, data ... Not always we can reach the right place by standard means or connect the required number of devices to one source.
Tee, extension cable, splitter, hub ... All this appears as soon as a new signal source appears. Round, square, beautiful, reliable, most of the characteristics remain the same, but there are some individuals that evolve in their development. I will tell you about the most interesting of them that I have met.
Immediately I warn you that I will not consider the UPS and network equipment as it is too serious, and I wanted to show the most interesting. We also exclude various wireless solutions from the review, otherwise no one will come to the end.

So:
Nomination "the most quirky."
Sometimes straight and strict lines do not contribute to the successful connection of all necessary devices, and here adaptability becomes an exclusively evolutionary step in development. Meet the
Pivot Power
Nomination "the most cunning."
This nomination includes a whole class of devices for transmitting some types of signals via communications, which are not intended for this.
I think it is enough to list the types of such devices:
- USB Extenders via Ethernet
- Ethernet "extenders" (no need to find fault with this word in this place, please, because this is the essence of the matter) through the power network
- PoE, i.e. electrical extension cables via Ethernet
All these devices differ in that they are paired and must be on both sides of the transmission medium.
Whether they are useful - certainly. I happened to try all three types of devices. When performing certain tasks without them just can not do.
Nomination "safest".
Electricity is an extremely dangerous thing, so any attempt to improve safety is great. Well, when it comes to throwing an extension cord into an aquarium and continuing to work, safely connecting and disconnecting electrical appliances, there are no words left ... Impressive.
It is hoped that with time these technologies will become truly universally used.
Nomination "the most fashionable."
I know that it
already flashed on Habré, but since I do a general review, I decided that I should add this too.
Endless extension cable from
Soon Mo Kang . There were more or less similar things, but this one became one of the most prominent representatives of modern design trends. The technical side remains in question, but the aesthetic confidently attracts attention.
Nomination "incomprehensible, but green"
I do not even know how to call this beast "USB controlled power strip". Not quite in Russian, but still “USB-controlled network filter”. A dream of greens who want electricity to be spent at a minimum or not at all. What does this kind of “smart home” do? Disconnect and switch on at the right time (programmed using special software) 4 out of 6 connectors (although there are only four of them in the photos). In general, and all ... True, the manufacturer says that this is done very conveniently and you can program a bunch of events, including very complex ones (such as when you start a Word, the connector where the printer is plugged in) will turn on. Personally, I find it difficult to assess the degree of electricity savings in this case, compared with energy-saving technologies built into the peripheral devices themselves. If it cost as a normal filter, it would be possible to take it for fun, but so far there is no information on sales on
the manufacturer’s website .
Outside the competition:
There were still the first wireless chargers. We are all waiting for all our devices to become compatible and we will simply not need all of these extenders ... We are waiting, but for now we are looking at the
AirVolt Wireless Phone Charger
And finally, a little bit of decoration:
Studio Manzano is a French design studio, whose ideas are easy enough to bring to life and independently, so just a link and just pictures.
