Robonyan helped Russian students get silver at the Imagine Cup 2010 final!

The international final of the student cup of technologies Imagine Cup 2010 has ended today in Warsaw. We are very happy to inform you that the Russian team from the Moscow City Pedagogical University (MGPU), which represented the “Robonyan” project in the “embedded systems” category, took second place in the competition , losing only to the team from Taiwan. The guys will receive a cash prize of $ 10,000 - but this is not the most important thing! Much more important is the invaluable experience of communication with students from around the world, which they have already received while on the final in Warsaw.

Here are the names of the winners (from left to right in the photo): Viktor Yurenkov, Alexey Kascheev, Ekaterina Frolova. Awards - Scott Davis, captain of the competition for embedded systems. Project manager (not in the photo, because he could not go to Warsaw): Vladimir Evgenievich Pavlovsky , Ph.D., professor, research associate of the Institute of Applied Physics RAS.

The most curious can watch the video (the awards embedded are interesting to watch from 1:20:00) and photos from the awards ceremony.

Not for the first year, Russian students have been very worthy of showing themselves in various categories of the Imagine Cup - last year, UNN students took second place in the category of software projects, in 2008 Russia received gold in the “Ho Chi Minh Project” category and a special engineering excellence award. We should not forget that this year Robonian was not the only champion: the Russian team of BigTurtle from SPbGPU received a special prize in the Internet Explorer 8 Award category for the best use of visual search technology in their visual online game.

In the near future we will tell you more about the competition and publish an interview with the winning team. Now I offer you together with the guys who are now in Warsaw, as well as their leader and all of us sincerely rejoice at the successes of the Russian programmers! Congratulations are accepted in the comments! Also in the comments you can ask questions to the guys who (at least the most interesting and “missed”) I will try to voice during the interview.

By the way, if you want to be on the place of winners next year - you can start now! Registration for the Imagine Cup 2011 is already open, and it was also announced that the final competition will take place in the summer of 2011 in New York. Incendiary speech to all participants of the competition addressed the first lady of the USA Michelle Obama, inviting them to become "ambassadors of innovation" in their own country and not abandon the work begun. In order for the guys to develop their project further, all finalists will have access to the BizSpark program, as well as a Windows Phone 7 based phone (when it will be available in their country).
