Yandex has learned to search in real time

Just a few minutes ago, a press release from Yandex was published with the news that the Russian search engine had learned to search in real time. The new technology allows you to find almost completely fresh documents and pages - a couple of minutes, and Yandex has already indexed everything. Why is this company? The fact is that from 2% to 8% of user search queries are devoted to events that have just occurred. It is clear that everyone wants to find quite “fresh” news, as much information as possible about it.

So, in order for users to find the desired news, Yandex has learned to do two things: first, to separate news events from the general stream, and second, to search in real time mode by creating a new search robot Orange. He indexes fresh information in just a few seconds, putting them on search engines.

Interestingly, Orange is able to determine how often websites are updated, and localizes news resources that are updated all the time.

Among other things, Yandex created detectors (software, of course) that allow you to determine how relevant this or other information is among users. “Now on the Internet there is more and more real-time information that people need right now. And we want to give them the opportunity to find it right now. This is only the first step, of course, we will improve the quality of search by news queries and further. The new technology makes it possible to do this relatively easily, ”says Fedor Romanenko, search quality manager.
