Twitter is becoming the fastest growing search engine

According to one of the founders of Twitter, Biz Stone (Biz Stone), who spoke yesterday at the Aspen Ideas Festival, the number of search queries on Twitter reached 800 million per day. This is more than 24 billion a month - more than the same Bing (4.1 billion) and Yahoo (9.4 billion) combined.

Of course, Stone’s company is still very far from Google, with 88 billion searches per month, but Twitter is closing the gap. Since April, the number of requests has grown by 33%, for comparison: last year, analysts from Nielsen concluded that Bing was the fastest growing search engine in America, which grew by 22% then. Now, it seems, palm goes to Twitter.

Stone has ambitious plans. Last month, he announced at the World Innovation Forum that Twitter is not a social network at all, although many people view it only from this side. “This myth appeared at the very beginning,” he explained, “We are rather an information network or a source of news.”
