According to AdMob mobile advertising company, Motorola Droid
is the most popular Android device. It is followed by the HTC Hero, and Google Nexus One ranks tenth in popularity.
The data is based on statistics on 12.7 million Android devices on the AdMob network in May. Therefore, HTC Evo, released in the first week of June, was not counted in the statistics.
About 21% of Android users use the Motorola Droid, 16% use the HTC Hero and only 2% use the Google Nexus One.
Motorola launched the Droid in November 2009 and made it available through Verizon Wireless. And despite the many Android devices coming out every month, the Droid is still popular.

AdMob notes that now more than 67% of Android users are from North America, and the second largest market is China, which accounts for 13%.
Together, HTC and Motorola occupy 83% of the market for all Android devices. Last week, Motorola unveiled its eleventh Android phone, the Droid X, and HTC released the Evo in June, the first and so far the only 4G phone.
