The AMOLED displays of the five Nexus One smartphones, which you can see in the photo, are not really defective; everything is fine with them. An image of a red-green-brown-crimson color appeared on them for a reason - this is an attempt to increase the battery life of the devices by turning off unnecessary LEDs-subpixels.
When connecting the tubes to the power meter, engineer Jeff Sharkey found that in the “bloody” mode, the devices consume 42% less electricity, respectively, and the battery life at the time when the phone display is used also increases significantly.

A very useful “hack” is in fact, because sometimes you need to maximize the operating time of the device (on a long trip, for example, where there is nowhere to recharge), if the color of the screen is not so relevant.
