A few months ago, a
function appeared in Gmail, notifying users if Google automatically detected suspicious account activity. Since the function showed its effectiveness in determining unauthorized access, Google
decided to extend it to all services, and not just to Gmail. Now, if a suspicious user account activity is detected on any of the Google product services, a notification will appear in
Google Dashboard .
Using the user's IP address, Google determines its approximate geographic location. And if the user is usually authorized in his account, being at home in California, and after a few hours it is noticed that someone is using an account from France, the user will be notified about this on the Dashboard page.

The user can instantly change the password or, in the case of legitimate access, simply remove the message. Google hopes this will help users identify suspicious activity, but they also remind you of
other safety instructions . In my opinion, the function is useful
, but it is not entirely clear why notifications appear in the Dashboard - this is hardly the most visited page of Google users .
UPD: I checked with a Google representative where exactly the user sees the notification. Notifications are now shown only in the Dashboard and in Gmail.
