StatCounter has released a
press release that Google Chrome overtook Apple Safari in the US for the first time in its weekly statistics. According to
StatCounter Global Stats , at the end of last week, Chrome moved Safari from third place.
Aodan Cullen, executive director of StatCounter, noted that this is a very good result for Chome - to recruit almost ten percent of the market in just two years.
Chrome with 8.97% now ranks third in the US market, Safari with 8.88% is respectively fourth. Internet Explorer still dominates - it has 52% of the market, and Firefox is second with 28.5%.

In the global market, Chrome has long overtaken Safari - it has 9.4%, while Safari has 4%, Internet Explorer has 53%, and Firefox has 31%.
For Russia, the picture is now somewhat different. The first place is occupied by Firefox with 32.1%, in the second and third places - IE with 29.71% and Opera with 28.48%. The fourth place is taken by Chrome with 7%.
StatCounter's weekly statistics are based on an analysis of 3.6 billion page views on over 3 million sites.
