Paul Friedds, a Fedora developer and Red Hat employee, has announced that he will stop supporting the Fedora 11 distribution, known as Leonidas.
Released in early June 2009, Fedora 11 included the Linux kernel version 2.6.29, a new design, and a significant number of software updates, such as OpenOffice 3.1 and the prerelease version of Firefox 3.5.
Now Leonidas will not receive updates, including security updates and bug fixes. Developers strongly recommend Fedora 11 users upgrade to Fedora 12 or 13 in order to continue to receive updates. ')
The release cycle for each version of Fedora is usually relatively short; a new version is released about every six months. In accordance with the current policy, the maintenance of the penultimate release ends one month after the release of the last release, in this case Fedora 13 .
