The results of testing browsers with the domain. RF

Yesterday at the meeting of software developers for IDN (IDN Software Development meeting) the results of the work of the first Cyrillic domains in different browsers were announced. Testing was conducted at the initiative of the Coordination Center of the national domain of the Internet . As a result of testing, not only the technical problems of browsers were revealed, but also the business processes embedded in them, including the redirection of Cyrillic words to the .COM domain or search page instead of correctly displaying the Cyrillic domain name. Most correctly, according to the test results, browsers of the latest releases of Internet Explorer, Opera, Safari, FireFox work with IDN-domains. In some browsers, such as Google Chrome, Cyrillic addresses entered in the query string are automatically redirected to the search engine.

It is important that software manufacturers respond quickly to changes in the structure of the Internet. For example, on June 23, another FireFox update was released, which includes full support for IDN domain names.
