Flash Player 10.1 for Mobile

Adobe has released a press release stating that Adobe Flash Player 10.1 has become available to mobile platform partners.

Among the devices that will support Android 2.2 Froyo and Flash Player 10.1 are Dell Streak, Google Nexus One, HTC Evo, HTC Desire, HTC Incredible, DROID from Motorola, Motorola Milestone, Samsung Galaxy S and others. Flash Player 10.1 is also expected to be supported by devices based on Android, BlackBerry, webOS, and future versions of Windows Phone, LiMo, MeeGo, and Symbian OS. It is expected that it will be available for download and will be reinstalled on smartphones, tablets and other devices in the coming months.

Flash Player 10.1 is completely redesigned and optimized for mobile devices. Accelerometer support allows users to view flash-content in landscape and portrait modes. With the “Smart Zooming” feature, users can scale content to full screen. Optimization of work with almost all major manufacturers of mobile hardware and software platforms allows you to effectively use the processor and battery.

The new feature "Smart Rendering" ensures that flash-content only works when it becomes visible on the screen, providing further reduction in processor performance and power consumption. In sleep mode, Flash Player automatically slows down when the device enters splash screen mode. Advanced Out-of-Memory Management allows the player to efficiently process non-optimized content that consumes an excessive amount of resources, as well as automatically reduce memory consumption, reduce RAM usage by up to 50 percent. Flash Player stops automatically during incoming calls or from the browser to other functions of the device. As soon as the user returns to the browser, Flash Player resumes its work where it left off.
