Growth rates exceeded even growth in the .com zone. But in 2010, due to the tightening of the rules for registration and renewal, the growth rate decreased. And now the Chinese domain takes the honorable 4th place.
The number of registered domains in the .com and .net zones, on the contrary, increased by 7% compared to last year and their total amount is 99.3 million.
According to Pat Kane, vice president of Verisign, “over the next three years, we expect the number of Internet users to grow from 500 million to 2.2 billion, and the number of devices with Internet access from 1.6 billion up to 2.7 billion. "
And this is what the ten largest domains look like (in decreasing order of the number of domains): com, .de, .net, .cn, uk, .org, .info, .nl, .eu and .ru.
