Why connect SSD drives if there is PAMII?

Our customers often ask us whether it is possible to connect SSD disks to NetApp systems ... We, in turn, ask “why?” We also have PAMII! Performance Acceleration Module II (FlexCache) The idea of this technology is simple - we add a very large second-level cache to the system (up to 4TB in the older models). This is our method of reducing response time, and it has the following advantages:
- this is not a disk, you do not need to build a RAID and you do not need to strain the processor by additional parity calculation
- this is not a disk, and the system does not need to build queues of requests to it
- we do not need to plan in advance what data should be placed on fast SSD drives and there are no problems with data migration to slower carriers while reducing their demand
- if the module fails, the data does not disappear - they are on disks, and for storage purposes more capacious and less expensive SATA disks can be used.

Along with the technology priorities of FlexScale, FlexCache allows you to load the most demanding response time into the cache, and priorities may change as needed. Imagine how fast your database will work when it is all comfortably located in the cache!
