The first project of Skolkovo: $ 30 million will be divided into six startups

The modernization commission held the first discussion of applications for financing start-ups in Skolkovo, presidential aide Arkady Dvorkovich, who is also the secretary of the commission, told the Vedomosti newspaper.

A total of 50 applications were received, four were discussed. “Only one has been practically approved,” said Dvorkovich. This is Almaz Capital’s project to create business incubators in the field of cloud programming, speech recognition, and 3D image transfer technologies over the Internet.

The project provides for the creation of startups and funding of their 50/50 from the state budget and private fund Almaz Seed. The total investment will be $ 30-35 million.

The Almaz Seed investment fund will be made up of funds from Almaz Capital and private investors, including Almaz Capital managing partner Alexander Galitsky and Parallels CEO Sergey Belousov.

A total of 6-7 startups will be created, the total capitalization of which over the course of 7-9 years should grow to $ 0.5-1 billion, investors promise.
