Publisher Warner Bros. and NetherRealm studio revealed some details of the new part of the popular Mortal Kombat series. The game is simply called Mortal Kombat, it will be released next year on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
The studio NetherRealm, responsible for developing the new Mortal Kombat, is headed by Ed Boon, one of the series’s “fathers”. And it has already been announced that, in terms of management, the game will be classic - two-dimensional. But the graphics, of course, will be modern and three-dimensional - a new graphics engine is being developed specifically for this project.
Naturally, the developers promise a lot of game modes: standard duels, team battles and fashionable "cooperative". Ed Boone argues that the game will be extremely cruel and there will be "the deepest plot mode among all the fights." ')
Judging by the video released together with the announcement, the game returns to its glorious origins, and thanks to the high-quality graphics, the “fatalities” really became even bloodier.
The first Mortal Kombat was released during the reign of Street Fighter 2 and was strikingly different from the numerous clones of this fighting game - instead of hand-drawn cartoon graphics, Mortal Kombat used sprites made from digitized live-action video. It was realistic graphics and deliberate cruelty that made Mortal Kombat popular and famous all over the world, and the brutal finishing moves (Fatality) of the defeated opponents became a real calling card of the series.
Mortal Kombat 4 translated the series into 3D, replacing the digitized fighters with polygonal models. And just Midway has developed and released ten games of the series, and since the eleventh part, Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe, Midway developed them under the wing of Warner Brothers.
Early last year, Midway was forced to declare bankruptcy, but it planned to continue to release the game. In the summer of the same year, Warner Bros Publishers acquired a part of the company's assets ... And, as it was recently reported , Midway bankruptcy proceeded to the final stage and the once popular game publisher became history.
Fortunately, the story of Mortal Kombat continues!
