How will I spend the summer

A post about how to get a job in ABBYY as a programmer gathered a lot of comments. Perhaps it is time for a series of stories about what awaits a person who has joined the ranks of our employees.

One of the most striking projects that are being made for employees is Summer with ABBYY. This is a series of small events that has been held in the company for the third year already and has become a very real corporate tradition.

As a rule, our “Summer” begins in May and ends in September. One spring day everyone finds on his desk a calendar of the project ( this one ), which offers to spend the summer in such a way that in the fall one doesn’t regret that he didn’t have time for something.

Despite the fact that in the summer, each of us has a lot of plans, trips and entertainment, more than half of the employees of the company's Moscow office usually join corporate raids. Almost everyone can find an event for themselves in the program, because we have a lot of offers: from excursions (in Moscow at night or to the Soyuzmultfilm studio) to a cowboy ride, from a badminton workshop with a professional coach to a canoe trip. In this case, you can participate in all events, you can - in several, but you can not participate at all. Well, if you sign up for something, then there is a high probability that people who are not familiar with each other, people from different projects and departments are in the company. It’s clear that if later you have to talk about work, for example, with your kayak neighbor, all questions will be solved much easier :)

Top managers of the company also take part in the project. For example, the chief of the Lingvo team, Alexander Rylov, led the first canoe trip, which, by the way, was the first canoe trip in life for our CEO, Sergey Andreev.


At the end of May, the next “Summer” started. This year it will be more sporty: we are waiting for a master class in windsurfing, a festival of large kites, orienteering, traditional kayak trips. In addition, paleontological excavations, a quest in Moscow, a theatrical picnic and a traditional family trip to the forest on Neptune Day are planned. And some of the events - the rally “ABBYY Road” and bike night - have already brought participants a sea of ​​positive emotions.
