US demands extradition of "UFO hacker"

Eight years ago, Englishman Gary McKinnon, suffering from Asperger syndrome (the so-called “ geek syndrome ”), depression, neurosis, and panic attacks, hacked the NASA and Pentagon server in search of information about UFOs. Now America is demanding the extradition of a 44-year-old "hacker" to judge him to the fullest extent of the law. His mother and ufolog activists are asking the British government to show firmness and not give out Gary.

According to the Americans, from 2001 to 2002, Gary invaded 97 state computers that were not protected by firewalls and passwords, which allegedly caused "damage to computers, disconnections from the network and damage in the amount of $ 800 thousand." According to the aggregate charges, Mackinnon faces up to 70 years in prison.

According to human rights activists, Gary did not cause any damage, because he did not find information about UFOs, and he was not interested in other information.

The hacker was arrested in early 2002, then released on the condition of a ban on the use of PCs and daily visits to the police station. In late 2005, a request was received from the United States for his extradition, which activists have been fighting so far, but without success. Now there is only one hope that the extradition will be canceled for medical reasons. Psychiatrist McKinnon claims that his condition does not allow transportation to the United States. Gary had never left the borders of his native city in his life.

Now Mackinnon is in a very bad state, he doesn’t even read his favorite science fiction. Gary's only passion was cooking. But, according to his mother, even here he started having problems: while cooking, he measures the exact amount of food up to a gram, and if someone breaks the proportion, he becomes very angry and starts cooking from the beginning.
