Intel Core 2 Extreme for mobile devices will go on sale the third quarter of 2007

Intel Executive Vice President Sean Maloney announced the release of a dual-core Intel Core 2 Extreme processor for mobile devices at Computex in Taipei. According to him, the first processor for gaming laptops from the chip manufacturer will go on sale in the third quarter of this year.

"The future processor will be a high-performance mobile dual-core processor, which will include energy-saving features to create user-friendly laptops," according to a press release from Intel.

At the moment there is no official information about the specifications of this processor and its price. Early reports suggest that the first processor in the Core 2 Extreme line for mobile devices will be the X7800 model with a frequency of 2.6 GHz and 4 MB of cache memory in the second level. It will use the Intel Santa Rosa bus at 800 MHz. The expected price per batch of 1000 Core 2 Extreme X7800 processors is $ 795.
