Apple introduced a new version of iOS 4

June 7, 2010 at the WWDC'10 Developer Conference, Steve Jobs introduced the new version of the Apple iOS 4 operating system for Apple iPhone smartphones and Apple iPad internet tablets.
Apple renamed the Apple iPhone OS to Apple iOS (which can cause some confusion and claims from Cisco IOS developers).
Most likely, the renaming is due to the fact that Apple iPhone OS already works not only on Apple iPhone smartphones, but also on Apple iPad internet tablet and Apple iPod touch video player, and may be used in Apple TV set-top boxes (what about rumors are intense).

One of the major innovations of Apple iOS 4 is multitasking support. According to Steve Jobs, the multitasking technology used in iOS 4 will significantly increase the battery life of the device compared to competing solutions like Google Android OS.
Also in the new iOS 4 appeared 100 nya new functions, one of which: the ability to store files in folders. You can create folders by dragging one application icon onto another.
For a detailed description of the basic functions of iOS 4, see the page: Apple iOS 4 Software Update .

The functionality of Apple iPhone OS 3 has recently been widely criticized for the lack of certain features inherent in modern versions of competing OSs, such as Google Android OS 2.2 (especially for the lack of multitasking).
After the release of Apple iOS 4, in terms of functionality, the operating system is almost as good as modern competing mobile operating systems, and in some ways considerably surpasses them.

For example, in Apple iOS 4, there is support for the FaceTime video call service.
So far FaceTime works only in Wi-Fi networks. Jobs said that support for this application is currently being discussed with mobile operators.
The application is part of Apple iOS 4 and does not require special configuration. It supports SIP, AAC and H.264 formats. According to Steve Jobs, FaceTime will be able to become an open industry standard for video calls.
But only new Apple iPhone 4 owners will be able to use the new service.

Over 1500 new APIs have become available to software developers in the new version of iOS 4.
A detailed description of the new software interfaces iOS 4 - see on the page: Apple iPhone SDK for iOS 4 .

The new version of the operating system iOS 4 was first announced on April 8, 2010.
Starting from June 7, the Golden Master Candidate of iOS 4 and the Apple iPhone SDK for iOS 4 are available to developers at the WWDC'10 conference.
For all users of iPhone 3GS and iPhone 3G, you can download iOS 4 for free starting June 21.
Also, Apple iOS 4 will be installed on the new Apple iPhone 4 which will go on sale in the US from June 24.
At the same time for the tablet Apple iPad - iOS 4 will be available from the autumn of 2010.

PS: Let's discuss the news :)
I personally would like to discuss the new name - Apple iOS
