Now NATO members will literally bomb cybercriminals
A team of experts from NATO, led by Darth Vader Madeleine Albright (if someone does not know, this is the former US Secretary of State) believe that a computer attack on the vital resources of the North Atlantic Alliance should be equated with an armed attack. Cromet, in their opinion, this justifies retaliation by MILITARY MEANS.
According to experts, cybernetic attacks on energy networks, command and control systems of the alliance can lead to collective response defense measures. The basis for the use of force will be Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty. She tractures an attack on one of the members of the alliance as an attack on all its members. The lawyers of the alliance believe that there is no need to add separate items on cyber attacks to the contract, since the cybenetic attacks are similar to a military attack. To justify the punishment of retribution, Article 5 is completely appropriate.
But as far as we all know, it’s quite problematic to establish on whom responsibility for cyber attacks lies and whether the actions of computer criminals are connected with the governments of certain countries. ')
In general, all this porridge was brewed in Estonia. It was there, during the crisis around the "Bronze Soldier" in 2007, that country was faced with massed attacks and hacking of its servers. After that, Estonian Minister of Defense Jak Aaviksoo stated that outside attacks on the virtual space of NATO member countries should be equated with a military invasion of these countries. Recently, Western authorities have expressed growing concern about hacker attacks from Chinese territory. The government of the PRC rejects the possibility of its involvement in these cyber attacks.
