Microsoft IIS is the most malicious web server

A new study by the Google Anti-Malware team has confirmed the assumption of many people: sites hosted on Microsoft IIS servers are twice as likely to spread "malicious" software than Apache.

Last month, Google studied about 70,000 domains through which various malware spread. It turned out that 49% of “evil” software is distributed through IIS - the same percentage of Apache. But among the examined 80 million domain names IIS was used in 23% of cases, and Apache in 66%. Thus, Microsoft IIS spreads malware twice as often as Apache - 49% versus 23%.

This percentage of “leaky” IIS can partly be explained by the high level of piracy in some countries. When using the “left” software, automatic updates are disabled, and patches are not installed, therefore, the security of servers is sharply deteriorating.
