Twitter annotations are a future big innovation that many expect. With their help, both users and clients will be able to add more context to tweets, which will give more useful information. A new post in the group Twitter on groups.google.com
Twitter API Announcement announces that testing will begin next week.

To be clear, this is just a test of a future feature through the API, so it will not be available to users yet.

Twitter recently updated the
wiki annotation page with information about what to expect from a function in the future, where it published a list of 11 “recommended” types of annotations that you can start using. Here they are:
- webpage
- review
- song
- movie
- tvshow
- book
- product
- stock
- offer
- topic
- event
It is also worth noting that initially the annotations will be limited to 512 bytes, but over time, Twitter plans to increase this limit.
