Clone iPhone from HTC soon in Europe

The Taiwanese handset maker NTS has announced the HTC Touch, a new GSM smartphone based on Windows Mobile with a touchscreen - like the future Apple iPhone.

Covered with the same soft-touch soft paint (black or green) as the NTS T-Mobile Wing phone, the HTC Touch is even smaller: 101 x 58 x 12.5 mm and weighs 113 g. It takes almost 2 full widths, 4-inch screen, but unlike the touchless iPhone, the HTC Touch has a navigation bar and a button under the screen.

New technology HTC TouchFlo, based on Windows Mobile 6 Professional (version of Windows Mobile 6 for devices with a touch screen), allows you to solve many common tasks using your fingertips. For example, if you drag your finger up from the navigation bar to the center of the screen, a list of contacts appears on the screen. If you strike to the left, it is replaced by the media control buttons; once again to the left - a set of shortcuts of pre-installed applications appears.



Answering a question about the similarity of the iPhone, NTS spokesman Jason Gordon (a former employee of Microsoft and Motorola) assured that the Touch was already being developed when Steve Jobs announced the stylish Apple touch device at MacWorld in January. “It takes years to develop this technology,” he said.

Touch is equipped with a built-in 802.11b / g wireless network adapter, but working in them strongly loads the lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 1100 uAh, which, according to the NTS, provides up to 5 hours of continuous voice communication and 200 hours of standby time.

HTC has been making Windows Mobile phones for a long time, but it still sold them under other brands — including HP iPaq, T-Mobile Wing and Dash, and Cingular 8525. The company recently announced HTC Advantage, an HSDPA device based on Windows Mobile 5, resembling a miniature PC - should appear on sale this summer. And at the end of the summer or in the fall, the release of HTC Shift, a UMPC device, which works with Windows Vista and supports quad-band GSM / GPRS / EDGE networks, is planned.
