Rostelecom: “Strengthening” of the regional network

Svyazinvest Holding (including Rostelecom and a lot of regional telecom operators), through the mouth of its representatives, announced that it had reduced tariffs for unlimited communications in the regions of Russia. According to the Russia 24 TV channel, since June 1, the cost reduction in Siberia and the Far East has happened three times, and in the rest of Russia more than doubled.

A few days before, Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Ivanov had said that
... in 2011, a company with preferential state participation will be created, which, we hope, will work successfully not only in the fixed-line market, where it is actually a monopolist, but also compete in those segments where we are dominated by private companies. First of all, it is broadband Internet access, mobile communications and digital broadcasting.

In an interview with Russia 24, the Deputy General Director of Svyazinvest, Mr. Provotorov, used the following expressions: “active regional expansion”, “the main focus will be the development of our own network”. He also noted that in the area of service provision, they are guided by western companies Deutsche Telecom and A & T Systems.
')
Provotorov's words were confirmed by voice-overs: A subsidiary of VolgaTelecom Holding entered the market of Tatarstan. For 133 and a half million dollars, it acquired the largest alternative telecom operator Teleset.

The company also plans to increase its stake in the corporate sector with the help of the “Electronic Government” project that it is developing, and also promises to pay great attention to the development of pay-TV.

If you go back to the cheaper Internet access for the Russians, then the devil, as always, is in the details. The subscription fee and data transfer rate vary depending on the region and the status of the settlement. For example, in the capitals of the subjects of Siberia (Altai, Buryatia and Khakassia, the Irkutsk Region and the Trans-Baikal Territory) the tariff is 450 rubles for 128 kilobits per second, and in other settlements - 400 rubles for 64 kilobits. In Kamchatka, the so-called. “Social tariff” is set at 1,500 rubles per month (as stated in the program, on average, “unlimited” in the region is connected for 7-8 thousand rubles).

Well, albeit with great reservations, I think it is worth welcoming these gestures of a major player.
