What awaits us in the Chrome Web Store

Earlier, we already reported on the launch by Google of its own Web Store, and now there is an unprecedented activity in the Chromium application development branch. Hundreds of developers are in a hurry to prepare their web applications for the launch of the Web Store, which may take place in conjunction with the release of the much anticipated Chrome OS.

We were able to look behind the scenes and touch a few apps from the Chrome Web Store to tell you about some interesting developments that will be ready for use in the next few months. But we warn that all applications are still in their most rudimentary form, and as developers adapt the code to the HTML5 standard, we can expect significant improvements.

To run the following applications you have to download and use the latest version of Chrome 6. Instructions at the end of the article.

The picture above is a living testimony of a working web application. This allows the webmaster to talk with visitors in real time to solve any questions or problems. The app is developed by the Lynxus group. It looks quite serious and powerful software package.

Pixelknight

Solitaire



Robert Schultz's app (Robert Schultz) is a familiar soliter. This is a great little game, but it demonstrates the ability to monetize the application by simply adding regular Adsense ads. And again the result of the work, which shows the possibilities of HTML5 and JavaScript'a. After just a few months, developers are ready to present impressive games on a new platform for them.

TF Designer

We left this application last, because it currently does not have a working demo or beta version, but nevertheless it promises many advantages.

Instructions - how to run applications:

To download and install a web app, you need to have a Chrome dev . To work with installed applications, you must start the browser with the --enable-apps flag.
