Recall the event that resulted in a major environmental disaster:
On April 20, 2010, an explosion of a submersible oil platform Deepwater Horizon operating in the central part of the Gulf of Mexico south of Louisiana (USA) leased by BP from Transocean. As a result of the ensuing fire, on April 22, the platform sank. The free flow of oil from the well, at which the platform worked before the catastrophe, led to the largest environmental disaster: up to 1,000 tons of oil poured into the water per day from a well located at a depth of about 1.5 km. The oil spill, whose area approaches 1,000 km², threatens the coast of Louisiana and other US states.
