The UN
calls on all countries to join the ban on phone calls and SMS messaging while driving.
UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said: "I want every driver in the world to understand: correspondence by SMS-messages at the wheel kills."
In 32 countries of the world there is already a ban on using the phone while driving. This ban has also been imposed on UN workers.

According to Ban Ki-moon, using a mobile phone increases the risk of an accident by about four times. But, nevertheless, in some countries up to 90% of drivers use mobiles while driving. In car accidents, about 1.2 million people die every year. At the same pace of development of the problem, by 2030 this will die more often than in military conflicts, from AIDS and cancer.
