IrDA 2.0. "Love is on the wire," and the Internet on LEDs
Recently I came across an article on Chinese scientists demonst 2Mbps internet connection over LED , which said that Chinese scientists were able to transfer data at a speed of 2MBps (streaming video) using LEDs.
What is it? A dead-end idea that will repeat the fate of the IrDA interface or a promising design that will increase the security of data transmission and allow
Potential problems:
The most obvious drawbacks are the direct “visual” contact of the two devices, which is clearly not a very high transmission rate.
Also, while there is no information about the cost of transmitters in the current and mass production.

Perspectives:
In my opinion, there are prospects, and for sure there will be very unusual applications that will be able to use the potential to its fullest (I do not mean the flower depicted in the figure, which requires watering). But I doubt whether this will become a mass technology. Although, perhaps, after some time, all mobile phones will get such an addition. At least it will be noticeably safer than bluetooth.
