As we promised , on Saturday, May 22, the first Siberian IT conference with chess and poetess,
DevPoint, was held in Novosibirsk.
Contrary to our expectations, interest in the event was shown by 5 times more people than we originally planned. While preparing the conference, we naively hoped to collect at least 100 people, but in the very first day after the registration was opened, 450 people registered on DevPoint, another 50 came “out of touch” and about 50 more people leaked to the conference without any cronyism and registration :)
Of course, in fact, not all came, but at the rush hour in the hall there were about 350 people: someone listened to reports, someone smoked on the terrace, someone actively communicated with old acquaintances, and someone spammed Twitter. In general, Twitter was the most popular means of communication on this day. He was read by everyone, everywhere and for any reason: “Dude, who closed in the push of #devpoint, if you read Twitter there, go out, please.”
There were also those who
attacked the bar in the morning and had already rested by noon . Fortunately, it was only one comrade, so everything went without incident :)
')
“Today we all made history!”
Vlad Semenov began his
first report - “Not only DevPoint is the first conference held in the canteen, so this canteen is also in the form of a bite donut!”
Indeed, since the number of participants sharply exceeded our expectations, we had to very quickly look for a replacement of the conference room for 80 people. And the only acceptable option by date, price and quality was the
Mall Food cafe . The premises very well accepted the participants, and there was absolutely no dissatisfied place.
In other words,
judging by the feedback from participants and their own feelings, the conference was a success! Of course, there were obvious organizational shoals; much of what they wanted did not, but this only forces us to organize the next conference, which will clearly be better and cooler than the current one. Exactly this will happen in exactly one year. And perhaps this fall.
