Flash kills web browsing on Android 2.2 Froyo

Translation (!) Of a part of a holywar note from www.mobilecrunch.com , do not spoil your karma :)

Brian PocketNow published a video comparing browsers on the iPhone, Nexus One and HTC HD2 showing similar sites. He installed Froyo on Nexus One and downloaded the beta version of the Flash player, which allowed him to view all the Flash content. The video is not short. Therefore, if you do not like to watch 11 minutes of dancing around the phone with Androyd, you can rewind at 1:40 where you will see Flash games from a “live” site.

I think that the main interest of this episode is that you can see how Flash games on a good processor are almost as good as games on native code.

You say, ok, it looks great, but why does Flash kill browsing?

The fact is that from 4:30 you can see how rudely Flash looks on real web pages. And we come to a dilemma with two introductory: first - Flash is good, it allows you to run real applications, second - Flash on the average web page is terrible.

If you love Flash - God is with you. Flash has been a time-tested platform, but you will suffer from a decrease in performance while surfing the web on mobile devices. And this, obviously, is a situation that upsets all the participants involved - Apple, Adobe, and we, at the same time, no one has a desire to change.

My problem with all these arguments is that they have become religious. Flash is seen as a martyr on the altar of freedom, which is completely wrong. Flash is a platform and Apple’s decision not to let it come to itself is understandable from many points of view, and especially clear from a business point of view. But to put forward a card with the argument “Free (th) as freedom” means to wriggle and not take into account financial relations defining decisions. I assure you that while Adobe [♥] Apple ( meaning the picture from Adobe, where they confess their love for Apple ), they definitely don’t [♥] you, at least, they don’t think of you in this “equation” .
