Recently, I read a report diagonally prepared by the Broadcasting and Mass Media Administration and the Regional Public Center for Internet Technologies. I can not imagine what kind of organization, but it can be assumed that the experts in their field worked. The first organization, apparently, represents the state, and the second - as appears from the name - civil society. The report is very solid: “The Internet in Russia. Status, trends and development prospects. BRANCH REPORT. "

It is true that I was immediately embarrassed, in the report, in essence, an equal sign was placed between the runet and the Russian Internet. What I want to say. Russia, after all, is not only a runet, it is tatnet, and a tower, and a Chuvashtet, and a sahanet. And still not very much, but all the same, there are several quite significant for the Russian ethnic groups of the national segments of the Internet. About this, unfortunately, in the report not a word.

It is clear that while these areas do not bring commercially profitable projects. Indeed, while advertisers are not interested in these segments. Accordingly, there is no big money. Apparently, therefore, neither public figures nor the state, while the state of these segments "does not hurt."

But sooner or later, both state structures and “social activists” will have to pay attention to the many languages ​​of Russia. After all, it gradually comes to an understanding that if an ethnic group and the corresponding culture and language do not penetrate into information and communication technologies, then they will in fact be deprived of the future, at best, researchers will study these cultures. On the other hand, sufficiently strong cultural-identification processes, counteraction to the sides of globalization leveling national peculiarities form separate “digital” cultural communities. The increasing penetration of the Internet into the Russian outback, as well as the search for a non-standard, individualized approach to the heart of the consumer, sooner or later will force advertisers to pay attention to the development of these segments.

It is only a matter of time.
But it must be remembered, every day of delay is fraught with even more “digital divide”. The great lag of the Russian peoples from the peoples of other countries, and therefore the whole of Russia, not only from Europe and the United States, but also from “third” countries.
