The draft law, toughening the punishment for plagiarism, contains plagiarism

On 6 May, a member of the lower house of the Argentine Parliament, Geronimo Vargas Aignasse, introduced a bill that toughened the penalty for plagiarism. But what is interesting is that in the project proposal in order to define plagiarism, he copied 331 words from the article about plagiarism on Wikipedia without any reference to the source. In the copied text, there are even some square wiki markup brackets.

However, this is not the first time that Ignasse uses Wikipedia text to write project proposals. In a proposal to ban the arrival of Barra Brava ( barra brava - so called Latin American football fans, known for disorderly conduct) to the World Cup, which will be held this summer in South Africa, he copied 314 words from the relevant article .

On May 16, the deputy confessed to the Clarín newspaper in Argentina that he copied the text from Wikipedia and that he had done it before. However, he stated that he was not obliged to refer to the source, which is quite amusing against the background of his bill, which aims to toughen the punishment of those who do not cite sources of other people's materials.
