Sony DVDDirect VRD-MC5 writes video from a camcorder to DVD without a computer

For those who have already acquired a digital camcorder and want to be able to quickly and efficiently transfer all the footage to DVD discs without resorting to a computer, Sony has released a new external optical “cutter” of the DVDDirect series under the VRD-MC5 index.
The novelty, as its creators emphasize, can be a great addition to such digital Handycam AVCHD cameras as the HDR-SR5, HDR-SR7, HDR-SR8 and HDR-CX7, with which it will productively interact via the USB interface (the developers assure that to start the copying process, just press one button on the device). The drive itself is equipped with a 2.5-inch LCD display, several slots for reading most popular memory card formats, a FireWire port, and an S-Video interface.

In addition, the device even supports recording to 8 cm DVDs.
It is expected that on the shelves of Sony DVDDirect VRD-MC5 stores will appear in August of this year, and the retail price recommended by the manufacturer is set at $ 247.
