Information from Reuters News Agency about the upcoming deal between Symantec and VeriSign was confirmed yesterday by official press releases from these companies ([ 1 ], [ 2 ]).
Symantec services acquired by companies include: Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) Certificate Services, Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) Services, VeriSign Trust Services, and VeriSign Identity Protection (VIP) Authentication Service.
Under the terms of the agreement, Symantec will buy VeriSign assets, including a controlling stake in VeriSign Japan. The amount of the transaction will be about 1.28 billion dollars.
