Continuing the good tradition of sharing icons, I spread a series of more than 200 images of various products that our company has developed for one of the grocery online stores. True, given the specifics, it is more correct to call it not an online store, but an online supermarket.
When working, the most difficult thing was not to technically draw the icons, but to choose one for each photo. Designers had to sit and watch hundreds of photos of food and drinks for hours! Even the most well-fed in about ten minutes began to saliva. Now, designers not only know what marble meat and lobsters are, but they understand how you can drink it all. The management expects questions on wage increases, and the waiters from the nearby cafes puzzled over what a Sicilian caponata is a dish, a drink, or what will happen if the brought food does not like a demanding customer.

As for the icons themselves, I will describe two problems with an example and how we solved them.
As it is not difficult to guess - we began to draw from the section of alcoholic beverages. And in the section with beer, we were almost put into a stupor by the fact that beer can be produced from different countries. No, well, of course this is quite logical, but as you order on a small icon to show the difference between German beer and Czech beer ... and yet there was a separate beer from Bavaria (the Bavarians are very proud of their beer and do not identify it with the rest of German beer), not every specialist will distinguish them in live, if you do not give a beer for tasting ... They broke their head for quite a long time, even decided to switch to other sections for a while, but suddenly our leading designer Zhenya gave birth - FLAGS; and not just flags, but in order to link with beer themes - round, like birdekely (the so-called round cardboard coasters for beer glasses) or bottle caps:

Having won beer from different countries, we really did not count on problems in the section of products, namely with meat.
Beef, here, how logical to show? That's right - a piece of meat (yes, yes, it is different from pork and this should not cause difficulties) ... BUT! Beef can be chilled and fresh frozen, and it can be marble, and there is (!) Veal, which is not beef at all. As a result, we had to resort again to our round indicators (with a modification in size, of course), and replace the piece of meat with the living image of the future steak:

These are the adventures with icons.
