Telepresence Robot for Remote Employees

Robots have already replaced people on the conveyors, the battlefield, in space and rescue operations. Now they have learned how to replace a person at office meetings. The new Anybots QB model is designed to provide telepresence of an employee who is currently at home and working remotely.

Using a video camera, a robot records video and transfers it to an employee on a home computer, and on the display shows the face of the employee himself, who is filmed on a home webcam. A robot on wheels can move from one conference room to another, work eight hours from one charge and can turn the “head” in all directions. What else is needed for telepresence?

To move using a gyrospop, similar to those that are installed in the Segway. Specifications: support 802.11g, 5-megapixel video camera, LCD screen 320 x 240, speed 6 km / h.

Anybots QB will go on sale this fall for about $ 15,000. This is a more advanced model of the Anybots QA prototype, which was discussed at Habré in January.

Since the remote work market is growing every year, the idea of creating such a robot literally soared in the air. Now other companies are working in the same direction, preparing to enter the market for similar robots, this is Rowio from WowWee (already on the market) and Texai from Willow Garage (while in production).
