New Google Keyboard: epic fail or joke?

I am really interested in what Google was guided by doing in the search engine just such a keyboard for a Russian user:

Is it such a hard banter?

And further.
1) Why is the virtual keyboard not able to type English characters?
1) Why, regardless of the national domain (.ru, .jp, ..) you can only type "native" characters? Search in other languages ​​(which, in theory, this keyboard should do), it does not allow. And the characters that correspond to my locale, and so on my "iron" keyboard.
2) Why does a search engine, which does not take into account the case of characters, virtual buttons shift register (Caps / Shift)?

I hope these questions are not rhetorical.

Prompted that the keyboard is only for nat. characters, so there is no english.
Then it is still more strange. Suppose I want to find something in Japanese. I go to google.jp, click on Wirth. keyboard ... and again I get the Russian layout. It still does not help to search in a foreign language, and I already have Russian (native) on the keyboard.

They suggested that the author of virtual keyboards for Google is our compatriot, Ivan Patryshev. He responded to our discussion in his blog.
