Joomla 1.6 - Beta version

Yesterday, May 17, the first beta version of Joomla 1.6 was released

The second beta is scheduled for May 31.

Joomla 1.6 features:
The new access control system users (New Access Control System) - allows administrators to assign who can have access to view and create, edit articles.
Unlimited Depth of the Organizational Model (Unlimited Depth Organizational Model) - unlimited nesting of categories, assignment to the user of certain categories.
One- click update extensions (One-Click Extension Updates) - allows users to update Joomla extensions directly from the admin panel.
Semantic XHTML content rendering (Semantic XHTML Layouts) - provides the best basis for content rendering (if you honestly don’t quite understand what it is, but after rummaging through the admin it seems like you can attach modules and individual site templates to each article).

In short, there is nothing revolutionary in 1.6. In fact, this is a bit hacked under the control of groups and with optimized code, a smaller server will load.

Especially for the minus: yes, I know that Joomla for the developer is a complete crap. Joomla is an ax! From this ax, you can cook an acceptable soup, only knowing the ingredients well. The reasoning about the ingredients under the cut.

For example, normal developers scored on embedded Joomla content . That is, they don’t use it at all. Since there are more or less acceptable flexible and free CCK for Joomla. Zoo, K2, Flexicontent (Yes, yes, the developers of Joomla extensions adopted the idea of CCK from Drupal). In K2 embedded comments, user profiles, fields for content and so forth.

Also, normal developers have scored on the site search component (because it’s not a search, but a complete pipets) and use Google’s Custom Search Engine or a similar service from Yandex.

Still normal developers scored on the built-in megaplug Tiny MCE and use JCE, which is an opensource fork from Tiny MCE for Joomla. Optimized and redesigned.

Virtuemart is the funniest component of Joomla. A huge number of sites use it. And he doesn't even cache Joomla ... The developers couldn't do it. Epic Fail.
