ITAR-TASS, referring to the Japanese newspaper Nikkei, reported that Sony has presented a miniature electric battery running on fruit juice at the US science congress.
The created “biobattery” with a size of 2 by 4 centimeters and a capacity of 10 milliwatts can be used in mobile phones, laptops, and players. The charger that feeds it is charged as a “fuel” with fruit juices - which ones are not yet reported. 8 milliliters of juice is enough for about 1 hour.
Work on an unusual power source was carried out by Sony specialists for several years in strict confidence. In 2007, a working prototype with a capacity of 1.5 milliwatts was manufactured, in 2009 - with a capacity of 5 milliwatts.
