Germans are leaving Quaero

Hartmut Schauerte, Minister of Economics of Germany, at the IT Summit in Postdam announced the plans of the German government to withdraw from the joint project with France to create a common European search engine Quaero and create the national project Theseus, aimed at creating a German search engine.

The reason for the disagreements is noted by the desire of the French side to create a classic search engine, while the German side would not like to enter into direct competition with Google and other leaders of this market, but wanted to focus on the development of the semantic Internet.

However, the German government will not call for other members from Germany to leave the Quaero project.
