New Zealand Parliament is preparing to end software patents

Judging by the blogosphere and news ([ 1 ], [ 2 ], [ 3 ], [ 4 ] , etc.), some people finally began to understand the negative role of software patents. I will briefly quote the official comments on the draft law developed by one of the state committees:

- Software should be excluded from the number of products that can be patented. Patents slow down innovation and stop competition among software developers in the bud. We decided to change the situation.
